Parking Enforcement Officers (PEOs) help sustain downtown vitality by ensuring parking turnover and pedestrian visibility. The job offers extensive field time, regular public contact, and a clear pathway to traffic‑safety analytics or code‑enforcement careers.

  • Patrol assigned zones, identify parking violations, and issue citations via handheld computer.

  • Educate motorists; record repeat infractions for data‑driven solutions.

  • Operate License Plate Recognition (LPR) to locate scofflaw vehicles.

  • Support sworn personnel during parades, road closures, and emergency scenes.

  • Ability to walk extended distances or operate a micro‑vehicle in varying weather.

  • Accurate fee handling for permits and fingerprint services.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and database software.

  • Able to pass background, medical, and drug screens.

  • Solid conflict‑resolution skills; courteous demeanor under pressure.

  • High‑school diploma or GED; post‑secondary coursework in criminal justice or administration preferred.

  • Must successfully pass physical examination/drug screening/background check

  • 18 years of age; valid PA driver’s license with satisfactory record.
