Program Introduction

The City of Coatesville Police Department takes child passenger safety seriously. Several of our officers are certified child passenger safety seat technicians and are available to answer caregivers’ questions, check for proper installation and ensure that the seat is appropriate for the child’s height and weight. In addition, we have partnered with Pennsylvania Traffic Injury Prevention Project (PA T.I.P.P.) and are able to provide child passenger safety seats at no cost to families with limited resources.

What is SafeRide?

Starting June 2025, Coatesville Police officers certified in child-passenger safety will inspect or install car seats every other Thursday at police headquarters. Each 45-minute session serves one family, keeps young riders secure, and costs nothing to city residents.

Scheduling Your Appointment

Please Read:

Before You Arrive

Please arrive at least 15 minutes early for your appointment. Car seat checks and installations are done by appointment and require approximately 45 – 60 minutes. During their time with a certified seat tech, caregivers will learn about the child passenger safety laws, the functionality of the safety seat and how to complete proper installation.

  • Select a Time – Click “Book My Seat Check” below, choose an available slot from the drop-down calendar, and submit the short form (name, phone, email, child’s age/height/weight).

  • Average demand: 2–3 requests per week, so reserve early.

  • Confirm – You’ll receive a text and e-mail. Reply Y to lock in or N to cancel. Need to reschedule? Use the link in your confirmation or call the number below.

What to Bring:

Upon Arrival: Please make sure the following are present.

  • Your vehicle (seat anchors vary by model). Please make sure the vehicle requiring installation is present.

  • Please provide a valid driver’s license or State ID.

  • If using Option 2, please bring the car seat that you would like to have installed.

  • The child does not need to be present during the installation.

  • One family per slot—no double bookings.
